Employment @ WanderRock Providing Community & Employment For Neuro-Diverse Young Adults

Currently, we are not hiring, but when we are we are only interested in applicants that can speak Japanese and work full time, not on a per-trip basis. If that is you, please keep reading!

Our mission goes beyond hiring guides to help facilitate trips that put more life in our travelers lives. We also have a unique hiring program, focused on providing employment and opportunities for neuro-diverse young adults that have a hard time getting a job in a traditional 9-5 setting. Since hiring priority is given to people who have been on previous WanderRock trips, it allows us to get to know our potential guides in depth, before offering them employment with us.

So if you'd like to travel the world on a regular basis, facilitate amazing life-changing experiences for others, and have a passion for helping people, WanderRock might be a great fit for you. Here's some more information about our hiring program.

Trip Length & Breaks

Our trips can range in length between 1 - 6 weeks (depending on the season, itinerary and trip style), and are sometimes scheduled with multiple sessions of a trip running back to back, with 2 week breaks in between. Guides & Trip Leaders who are on staff with us are may be expected to lead multiple trips, with a 2 week break in between each trip to take care of their affairs, rest, recharge and do their own thing.

In addition, while on each trip (excluding travel days) there will be off time each day so you can take a break, visit our current location on your own, call home, answer email, or take care of whatever else you need to take care of.

Guides

Our WanderRock guides are the heart and soul of what we do. These are the men & women that guide our travelers around the world, following our specifically designed itineraries and helping our travelers have a great time.

All guides are also trained in First Aid, CPR, and conflict resolution skills, so that they can help our travelers navigate the emotional side of travel and keep everyone healthy.

Trip Leaders

Each itinerary has 1 trip leader, whose job is first & foremost to make sure everything runs smoothly. This is someone who has extensive international travel experience as well as experience leading groups, managing conflict, and working with the neuro-diverse population.

Our trip leaders are responsible, mature and able to quickly think on their feet.

Support Staff

Our US based support staff are responsible for handling the day-to-day logistics of running WanderRock, including answering questions about upcoming trips, reviewing applications, performing pre-trip interviews to assess fit, and assisting with pre and post trip coaching & followup.

This is also the team that handles any complaints or problems that arise while on trips that cannot be solved by our leaders & guides (such as helping to arrange transit home for someone who is unable to continue, or re-routing itineraries based on unexpected weather events).

Research & Development Team

Our R&D team is responsible for researching and testing new itineraries which involves extensive online research as well as on the ground exploration, itinerary testing, and relationship building with local organizations such as tour operators, hotels and more.

We occasionally offer R&D trips to our existing WanderRock Guides & Trip Leaders between running itineraries, depending on the time of year, and also occasionally hire dedicated R&D team members.
